what art?

1. In both images, they're making serious faces and give the art a more serious tone. In the first piece, the model has good posture because she seems to just be sitting or standing and giving a side profile. In the second piece, the model is posing straight-on but seems to have her head slightly tilted back.

2. To create both images, I think the portraits were taken inside a studio first; then, the artists enlarged them and printed them onto a large canvas. From there, I think the artists painted over the models different features to create an oil paint look. The features on the hair of each model look to be untouched by the artist.

3. The color does play a semi-big role in the overall mood of the piece. The first picture have a red background adds to the models facial expression of looking serious. The orange within the second piece not only is in the background but is also in the lips of the model. The orange compliments the models pose and independent nature.

4. In the first piece, I think the artist was trying to convey a somber meaning. From the models face to the use of blue and red, I think the artists wanted to express the idea of someone putting on a face during not so easy times. As for the second piece, I think the artist was trying to express the idea of confidence. The pose in which the model did isn't flattering on everyone or easy for everyone to make work. Overall, both pieces were successful at conveying a message whether it was big or small.
